Join as a writer

Join now and register your music so you can earn money when your music is used. You don’t need to be signed to a record label or music publisher to become a member, but you need to be the copyright owner of a musical work.  

You will pay a one-time fee of £100 to join PRS. If you’re under 25, you can join for £30.

Depending on how your music is used, you may also want to join MCPS for a further £100.  Learn more about how PRS and MCPS work together.

What you need to join as a writer

Credit or debit card, valid passport or driving licence. We may ask you for additional information or documents

Join as a music publishing company

You can join PRS and MCPS as a music publishing company if you represent at least 15 works written by a minimum of two different writers and composers.

You will pay a one-time fee of £400 to join PRS and a further £400 to join MCPS.

What you need to join as a publisher

Credit or debit card, valid passport or driving licence and evidence of publishing agreements with two writers or composer. We may ask you for additional information or documents

Which society should I join?

PRS represents performing rights and collects royalties for the performance of its members' work

MCPS represents mechanical rights and collects royalties for the reproduction of its members' work
